In my day to day work (teaching) I find a lot of different perspectives and approaches about improvisation. A lot of rock n' roll guitarists tend to stick with the Pentatonic Scale, maybe weaving in some extra notes from the major/minor scale. Jazz cats tend to lay on the chord tones while adding in chromatic approaches and scale extensions.
I decided to talk about both the key center and chord tone approach and explain just what they are. I also mention some of their pros and cons that may come with using such approaches.
